Male genitalia ( Fig. 55). Uncus short, broad, rounded, with terminal notch, narrowed basally; socius minute; arms of gnathos slender, terminal plate small; valva moderately large, tapered terminad; sacculus simple, slender; transtilla consisting of pair of slender labides, each with two strong spines; aedeagus slender, tapered in distal third ventroterminally; coecum penis and caulis moderate; a row of short cornuti fixed to dorsal wall.

Remarks. According to the original description the type material consists of 9 specimens with both sexes represented. In RMCA 5 males are present, representing at least two different species. The identity of paralectotype 2 and 3 is uncertain as they lack the abdomen. Paralectotype 1 has not been dissected. Paralectotype 4 is conspecific with Clepsis enochlodes ( Meyrick, 1938) described in the same paper as C. brachyptycta (see below). The lectotype was selected by Aarvik in 1998 but was not published until the present paper. The species is transferred to the genus Clepsis Guenée, 1845 . It is similar to the European species Clepsis consimilana (Hübner, [1817]) (Tortrix) , the type-species of its subgenus Siclobola Diakonoff, 1947 . Both C. brachyptycta and C. enochlodes are externally similar brownish moths with a typical archipine forewing pattern consisting of an oblique median fascia and otherwise diffuse marks. Together with Clepsis octogona ( Bradley, 1965) (Metamesia) , comb. n., and C. poliochra ( Meyrick, 1920) (Tortrix) , comb. n., they form a compact group defined by the presence of large, curved pronglike setae on the 8th sternite in male.
