Endothenia euryteles ( Meyrick, 1936) View in CoL , comb. n. ( Figs 24, 70, 100)

Laspeyresia euryteles Meyrick, 1936 View in CoL . Exotic Microlepidoptera 5 (1): 25.

Cydia euryteles: Brown 2005 View in CoL . World Catalogue of Insects 5: 233.

Lectotype male. Here designated. Label data (7): "Type, L. euryteles View in CoL "; "Musée du Congo, Eala, xi.1935, J. Ghesquière, 933"; " Laspeyresia View in CoL , euryteles View in CoL n. sp., Meyr., Type"; " R. Dét., i, 3124"; "M4517"; " Lectotype, Laspeyresia euryteles, Meyrick View in CoL (male), Genital prep. 98058, L. Aarvik "; " MRAC / KMMA 00326 View Materials "; specimen ID: RMCA ENT 000005025 View Materials .

Paralectotype 1 (♂). Label data (4): "Type, L. euryteles "; "Musée du Congo, Eala, xi.1935, J. Ghesquière, 933"; " R. Dét., i, 3124"; "M4516". [Not dissected]; specimen ID: RMCA ENT 000005026 View Materials .

Paralectotype 2 (♂). Label data (5): "Type, L. euryteles "; "Musée du Congo, Flandria, xi.1935, J. Ghesquière, 905"; "Flandria, ix.1935 "; " R. Dét., i, 3124"; "M4516". [Not dissected]; specimen ID: RMCA ENT 000005027 View Materials ( Fig. 24) .

Male genitalia ( Fig. 70). Uncus rather short, pointed; socius atrophied; valva broad proximally, with broad neck and fairly long ventral incision; cucullus elongate-oval with distinct ventral lobe from which a row of strong spines extends beyond group of strong bristles in distal part of neck subventrally; aedeagus large with two terminal spines.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 100). Both pairs of apophyses of moderate length; posterior edge of sternite 7 with wide v-shaped excavation, tergite 7 with smaller u-shaped excavation; ostium circular, with sclerotized anerior edge; sterigma with distinct cup-shaped sclerite; ductus bursae with lateral sclerotizations and sclerotized “dots” posteriorly, otherwise membranous; ductus seminalis inserted medially on corpus bursae; corpus bursae with minute spines, signum basket-shaped, similar to the one present in Endothenia .

Remarks. Described from 5 specimens of which the male lectotype and 2 male paralectotypes are deposited in the collection of RMCA. The lectotype was selected by Aarvik in 1998 but was not published until the present paper. The description of the female genitalia is based on a specimen not belonging to the type series with the following labels: "Musée du Congo, Eala, ix.1935, J. Ghesquière, 933"; "R. dét., J, 4515"; "MRAC/ KMMA 00505"; specimen ID: RMCA ENT 000005145. The species does not belong to Cydia . The uncus in the male genitalia and the signum in the female genitalia suggest a position near Endothenia . It probably requires a new genus.
