Paratype 2 (♂). Label data (4): " Paratype, H. hylaeana "; "Musée du Congo, Eala, vii.1936, J. Ghesquière "; " R. Dét., J, 4510"; "P". [Not dissected]; specimen ID: RMCA ENT 000004963 View Materials ( Fig. 19) .

Male genitalia ( Fig. 66). Uncus moderate, club-shaped; socius small, drooping; gnathos arm expanded posteriorly; valva broad with proportionally small dorsal portion; sacculus slender proximally, strongly expanded dorsad from before middle, with triagular ventrocaudal lobe and slightly convex caudal edge; median part of transtilla expanded dorsally; juxta broad; aedeagus slightly curved, tapered towards forked apex.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 98). Papilla analis rather short, short hairy; sterigma with large cup-shaped part broadened medially and short postostial part; antrum sclerite large; cestum long extending from base to ca 3/4 of ductus bursae; signum with large basal sclerite and capitulum directed mediad.

Remarks. Described from a series of 8 specimens; in addition to the above mentioned types, 5 males are mentioned from Eala which do not belong to the type series. Also, a male from Elisabethville [Lubumbashi] is mentioned, but not included in the type series. We transfer hylaeana to Meridemis Diakonoff, 1976 mainly on the basis of the broadened median part of the transtilla.
