Notes
Species complex. Rice et al. (2008) provide molecular evidence of at least three putative cryptic species present in North America. Reported from Greece by Simboura et al. (2008). Originally described from South Carolina; in the Mediterranean also known from Spain ( Tena et al. 2000), Turkey ( Çınar et al. 2014) and from Adriatic lagoons ( Bertasi 2016). Also reported from the Black Sea ( Kurt Şahin and Çınar 2012, Radashevsky and Selifonova 2013).
