Notes
Considered a species complex by several authors (e.g. Hutchings and Glasby 1995). Originally described from the Red Sea, considered established in the Mediterranean Sea ( Zenetos et al. 2017). The genus Loimia Malmgren, 1866 is considered a synonym of Axionice Malmgren, 1866 by Jirkov and Leontovich (2017), but see remarks under Axionice conchilega , which apply also to Loimia .
