ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 17 (key), 23 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (missing left mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 14): Masicera Macq. / casta Rnd. / 744.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Cadurcia casta ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 244, Pape et al. 1995: 22, Cerretti 2010: 265, O’Hara et al. 2020: 431).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 23) described Masicera casta from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Foeminam tantum lecta [Collected the female only]”. Herting (1969: 190) reported a single female in the MZUF. We also found one female syntype in the MZUF.
