ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 162 (key), 164 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 12): Phorocera Mgn / grisella Rnd. / 594.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Zenillia dolosa ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 229) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 164) described Phorocera grisella from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Foeminam tantum inveni [I found only the female]”. We found one syntype in this study.
