ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1870b: 65.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Giappone [ Japan]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study.
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Blepharipa sericariae ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 249, O’Hara et al. 2009: 103, 2020: 428).
REMARKS: Rondani (1870b: 65) described Ugimyia sericariae from larvae and pupae received from Chiapello and Golletti, without specifying the exact number of the specimens. Rondani (1870d: 137) redescribed the larvae, but he never examined any adults of this nominal species. We were unable to locate any type material during this study.
