ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1865c: 195.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Parma [Parma (Italy)]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (dirty, missing fore-legs) ( MZUF: Box 9): Triptocera [sic!] Macqrt. / scutellaris Rnd. crassicornis ? Mgn. / 436.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Actia crassicornis ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 329, Andersen 1996: 63).

REMARKS: Rondani (1865c: 195) described Tryptocera scutellaris without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens under the generic name “ Tryptocera ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Thryptocera Macquart, 1834 or subsequent usage of Tryptocera Macquart, 1834 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 186). We found one syntype in this study.
