ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868b: 30.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Mendoza [Mendoza ( Argentina)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (specimen partially damaged by the pin) ( MZUF: Box 72): Strobelia Rnd. rubiginosa Rnd., Amer. Mer. [= South America] / [no identification number ].

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Foote 1967: 42, Norrbom et al. 1999: 212), valid species, as Rachiptera rubiginosa ( Norrbom et al. 2010: 50) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1868b: 30) described Strobelia rubiginosa , without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens, from material received from P. Strobel. We found one syntype in this study.
