TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus subapenninis agri parmensi [Parmese sub-Apennine hills ( Italy)]”.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Eupeodes flaviceps View in CoL ( Peck 1988: 33, Belcari et al. 1995a: 7).
REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 133) described both sexes of Syrphus flaviceps without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length. Dušek & Láska (1976: 274) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotype (♀) but did not mention an additional eight specimens: six in the MZUF, one in the MSNC and one in the MSNPV (all are paralectotypes).
