ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 84 (key), 85 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in toto agro parmense … In aliis plagis italicis … tam meridionalibus quam borealibus: usque ad insulam Melitam. A Germania [all the Parmese territory … southern and boreal (= northern) Italy … Malta Island … Germany]”.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Microphthalma europaea Egger, 1860 ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 351).

REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 85) described Dexiosoma longifacies without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens and not giving a range of lengths, but from more than one specimen because he indicated: “ vulgaris … a Majo ad Octobrem [common … from May to October]”. We found seven syntypes in this study.
