ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 61.
TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but later (1859b: 23) added “ in ditione parmensi … in Etruria [ Parmese territory … Etruria (= Tuscany) ( Italy)]” .

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 345, Pape et al. 1995: 27, Cerretti 2010: 401; O’Hara et al. 2020: 682).
REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 61) key for the genus Clausicella Rondani, 1856 lists Clausicella suturata as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. We found seven syntypes in this study.
