ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1873e: 284.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Bogos [Bogos ( Eritrea)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MSNG): Bogos 1871, Antinori / Typus / Beccarimyia antinorii Rond. / Beccarimyia antinorii Ron., Abissin. [= Abyssinia ( Eritrea)].

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Crosskey 1980: 824, O’Hara & Cerretti 2016: 173, O’Hara et al. 2020: 568).

REMARKS: Rondani (1873e: 284) described Bogosia antinorii , without specifying the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material collected by O. Beccari and O. Antinori. Guiglia (1957: 194) and Raineri & Rey (1996: 56) reported the holotype in the MSNG.
