ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 154.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (missing fore-legs) ( MZUF: Box 20): Gastrolepta Rnd. / gentilis Rnd. / 1067.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Gastrolepta anthracina ( Meigen, 1826) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 149) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 154) described Gastrolepta gentilis from just the male sex without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Semel … captus mas [the male collected once]”. We found one syntype in this study.
