REMARKS: Rondani (1861g: 386) described both sexes of Sarcophaga soror without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths, but presumably from more than one specimen because he stated: “ non rara [not rare]”. In his redescription of Sarcophaga soror, Rondani (1862d: 107) specified the type locality: “ in collibus et montuosis agri parmensis [Parmese hills and mountains]”. Pape (1988: 15) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (5 ♂♂, 3 ♀♀) but did not mention an additional four specimens: two in the MZUF and two in the MSNC (all are paralectotypes).
