ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868d: 575.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Sicilia ad Nebrodes [Nebrodi mountains, Sicily ( Italy)]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype (missing left hind-leg) (MZUF: Box 4): Eumerus Mgn / truncatus Rnd., Sicil. / 147 / Madonie / E. truncatus bona sp. Vujić 2014 / Holotype ♂ Eumerus truncatus Rondani, 1869 det. J. van Steenis, 2016.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Eumerus barbarus (Coquebert, 1804) View in CoL ( Peck 1988: 154, Belcari et al. 1995a: 14); valid species ( Steenis 2017: 162).

REMARKS: Rondani (1868d: 575) described Eumerus truncatus from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens, from material received from F. Minà Palumbo. Steenis et al. (2017: 162) considered the single MZUF male as the holotype.
