ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1871a: 325.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Pedemontio [Piedmont ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Helina protuberans ( Zetterstedt, 1845) ( Pont 1986b: 147, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 13).
REMARKS: Rondani (1871a: 325) described Limnophora albifrons from some males: “ Mascula aliqua tantum legi [I collected some males only]”, received from L. Bellardi. Hennig (1961: 227) listed two syntypes in the MRSN, which we did not locate in this study.
