Leptipalpus brasiliensis Rondani, 1850

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1850c: 183.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Insulae S. Sebastiani [ San Sebastian Island ( Brazil)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MRSN: Box 1755): Leptipalpus Rnd. brasiliensis Rndn., Ins. S. Sebastiani / holotype ♀ Chrysopilus brasiliensis (Rond.) , N. Papavero det. / Leptipalpus brasiliensis Rond. 1850: 183 , Ins . S. Seb.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, unplaced to genus in Rhagionidae ( James 1968: 6) View in CoL .

REMARKS: Rondani (1850c: 183) described Leptipalpus brasiliensis from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens, from material received from E. Truqui. Nelson Papavero labeled the single MRSN female as “ holotype ” but, as far as we know, he never indicated this specimen as holotype in any of his publication. We consider it as a syntype because Rondani did not specify he had a single specimen.
