ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 132.
TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, lectotype (dirty, covered with mold, ( MZUF: Box 39): Glabrinus Rnd. / murorum Rnd. , v. aenea ? / 2112 / lectotype Glabrinus murorum ♀, by Mathis, Zatwarnicki, Krivosheina.
PARALECTOTYPES NOT EXAMINED: 1 ♂ ( MZUB: Box 338): 28 16 / Glabrinus murorum Rond. , ex a. parmensi / murorum Rndn. , Parma; 1 ♀ ( MZUB: Box 338): 28 17 / Glabrinus murorum Rond. , ex a. parmensi; 1 ♂ ( MZUB: Box 338): 28 18 / Glabrinus murorum Rond. , ex a. parmensi; 2 specimens (sex not determinable, one covered with mold and missing both fore-legs, the other missing right fore-, left mid- and hind-legs) ( OUMNH Verrall- Collin Coll.: Box 18): Type / Glab. murorum Ex. Coll. Big. / Gymnopa / subsultans F.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Mosillus subsultans ( Fabricius, 1794) View in CoL ( Cogan 1984: 128, Mathis et al. 1993: 27, Mathis & Zatwarnicki 1995: 139).
REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 132) key for the genus Glabrinus Rondani, 1856 lists Glabrinus murorum as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. Mathis et. al. (1993: 30) designated a lectotype (♀) but did not mention three specimens in the MZUB and two in the OUMNH (all are paralectotypes).
