Ephydridae View in CoL View at ENA
This family of acalyptrate flies contains more than 2,000 species ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Rondani (1847b, 1856, 1868b, 1869c) described four Palaearctic and one Neotropical nominal species. Three of these are currently considered as valid, one as a nomen dubium , and one ( Gymnopa opaca Rondani, 1869 ) was not included in any recent catalog ( Wirth 1968, Cogan 1984, Mathis et al., 1993, Mathis & Zatwarnicki 1995, Bächli et al. 1995, Stuke 2011). In his paper on the Rondani types at MZUB, Morge (1959b) listed two unpublished names (nomina nuda ) of Rondani. Clausen (1979) designated a lectotype for Ochthera schembrii Rondani, 1847 and Mathis et al. (1993) designated a lectotype for Glabrinus murorum Rondani, 1856 , both of them in the MZUF. Here, we designate a lectotype for Ephydra ciligena Rondani, 1868 . The type material has been recovered for all nominal species and is distributed among the MZUF (five), MZUB (three) and OUMNH (one).
