TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but later (1876b: 86) added “ in tota Italia [in all Italy]” .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Drosophila melanogaster Meigen, 1830 View in CoL ( Bächli & Rocha Pité 1984: 208, Brake & Bächli 2008: 108).

REMARKS: Rondani (1875d: 145) described both sexes of Drosophila uvarum without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length. Bächli (1982: 294) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (5 ♂♂, 7 ♀♀) in the MZUF without specifying their number and did not mention an additional five specimens in the OUMNH (all are paralectotypes). Bächli did not consider one MZUF male labeled Drosophila uvarum as paralectotype because belonging to a different family ( Lauxaniidae ).
