TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro lunensi [ Lunigiana (Tuscany, Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MZUF: Box 8): Zodion Latr. / subapertum Rnd., Etrur [ia] / 404 / Zodion ? carceli (Rob. Desv. 1830) L. Rivosecchi det. / Holotypus Zodion subapertum Rondani, 1868 , labeled by Mei & Stuke, 2007 / Zodion cinereum ( Fabricius, 1794) , ♀, det. Mei & Stuke, 2007.

CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Zodion Latreille, 1796 View in CoL ( Chvála & Smith 1988: 261); junior synonym of Zodion cinereum ( Fabricius, 1794) View in CoL ( Mei & Stuke 2008: 5, Stuke 2017: 234).

REMARKS: Rondani (1868a: 36) described Zodion subapertum from a single specimen without specifying its sex: “ Specimen unicum legi [I collected a single specimen]”. Rivosecchi (1996: 146) incorrectly reported that the type material for this nominal species was not in the MZUF.
