ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1872a: 31 (as “ albo-punctatus ”).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Italia [ Italy]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, 5 ♀♀, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 57): Culex Lin. / albopunctatus Rndn. / 3028; 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 57): Culex Lin. / albopunctatus Rndn. / 3028 / Apr.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Aedes geniculatus (Olivier, 1791) ( Minář 1991: 101) View in CoL , junior synonym of Dahliana geniculata (Olivier, 1791) ( Harbach, 2018: 243) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1872a: 31) included Culex albopunctatus as a new species in a key but did not provide a detailed description, number or length of the specimens but provided specific characters for the male. Eight syntypes were found in this study.
