ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1879: 21.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in colle ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hill ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype ( MZUF: Box 66): Ornithophila Rnd. / vagans Rnd. / 3405 / holotype Ornithophila vagans Rndn. , ♂, T.C. Maa, [19]62.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Ornithophila metallica ( Schiner, 1864) ( Soós & Hůrka 1986: 217) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Rondani (1879: 21) described Ornithophila vagans from a single specimen without specifying its sex: “ Unicum exemplar legi [I collected a single specimen]”.
