ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1879: 22 (key), 23 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ ad littora Insulae melitae [coast of Malta]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MZUF: Box 66): Olfersia Wd. / falcinelli m., Melita, Creta / 3408 / holotype Olfersia falcinelli Rndn. , ♀, T. C. Maa, [19]62.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Pseudolynchia canariensis View in CoL (Macquart in Webb & Berthelot, 1839) ( Soós & Hůrka 1986: 222, Pape et al. 1995: 8).

REMARKS: Rondani (1879: 23) described Olfersia falcinelli from a single specimen, without specifying its sex: “ Unicum exemplar observavi … Misit olim Clar. Schembri [I observed a single specimen …. Formerly sent by Mr. Schembri]”.
