Acroceridae View in CoL View at ENA
This worldwide family of lower brachyceran flies contains 418 species ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Rondani (1863) described four Neotropical nominal species, three considered as valid and one as a junior synonym (González et. al. 2018). Rondani placed all the species he described in his new family Cyrtidae ( Rondani 1856: 14) , now considered a junior synonym of Acroceridae . Here, we consider Panops aeneus Philippi, 1865 as a junior synonym of Lasia aenea Rondani, 1863 and Panops nigripes Philippi, 1865 as a junior synonym of Lasia cuprea Rondani, 1863 . Except for the type material of one species, which is presumed lost, the type material for all the nominal species is in the MZUN and has been studied by J. Gillung (pers. comm., September 2014).
