Brachylinga ornatifrons (Kröber) View in CoL

( Figs. 18, 41, 64, 87, 110, 133, 156, 179, 200, 213)

ornatifrons Kröber (1911: 499 View in CoL male key, 519 orig. desc.; 1913:33 dist.; 1928a:6 dist., 10 male key) ( Psilocephala View in CoL ); Metz et al. (2003:22 comb. change) ( Brachylinga View in CoL ). Type locality Peru, Arequipa. Holotype male (MEI 134208) in SMTD.

Diagnosis

Brachylinga ornatifrons is taxonomically associated with B. laculata in possessing setae on the katepisternum; in having the halter knob dark reddish brown; and in having the foretibia dark yellow with the apex dark reddish brown. Brachylinga ornatifrons differs from B. laculata in having the wing cell m 3 closed, petiolate; tergite 8 ( Fig. 18) narrow medially; and the gonocoxite in dorsal view ( Fig. 64) lacking a gonocoxal bridge.

Redescription of male
