Edosa duoprojecta Yang, Wang & Li , sp. nov.

( Figs 2 View FIGURE 2 , 29 View FIGURES 28 − 35 , 60 View FIGURES 60 − 62 )

Type material. Holotype ♂, CHINA: Rare Botanical Garden, Ruili (24°00'N, 97°50'E), Yunnan Province, 1000 m, 5.viii.2005, leg. Yingdang Ren, genitalia slide No. YLL10109.

Diagnosis. This new species is similar to E. carinata sp. nov., but differs as noted in the diagnosis of the latter species. Edosa duoprojecta sp. nov. is also close to E. curvidorsalis sp. nov., but can be distinguished by the uncus lobe truncate at apex, the valva having an almost rectangular basal process and an ovate medial process, and the aedeagus not differentiated into two parts, but hemispherically expanded in distal 1/3. In E. curvidorsalis sp. nov., the uncus lobe is hooked at apex, the valva has an elliptical basal process and a digitate medial process, the aedeagus is differentiated into a horned ventral section and an S-shaped dorsal section, not expanded distally.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 28 − 35 ). Wingspan 11.5 mm in male. Head yellowish brown. Antenna dusty yellow; scape with a few black pecten bristles; flagellum unicolorous. Labial palpus yellowish brown mixed with dark brown. Thorax and tegula ochreous brown. Forewing index 0.35, yellowish brown except a few individual scales darktipped; retinaculum present; cilia yellowish brown, without cilia line. Hindwing pale yellowish brown, with a single short, slender evenly curved frenular bristle; cilia pale yellowish brown.

Pregenital abdomen. In male, first tergum with medial 3/5 sclerotized; coremata present in eighth segment; eighth sternite 0.15× as long as wide, posterior margin gently concave, without caudal process; eighth tergite rectangular, 0.5× as long as wide, without caudal process.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 60 − 62 ). Vinculum straight on anterior margin, arcuately concave on posterior margin; medial process absent from ventrocaudal margin. Tegumen 0.3× depth of vinculum, slightly concave on anterior margin, semicircularly concave on posterior margin, articulated with vinculum, forming an X-shaped rim at joint. Uncus with broad furcate base, forming a large, bell-shaped membraneous section with tegumen; uncus lobe 2.0× depth of vinculum, not twisted, gently bent ventrad, basal half fused by membrane, distal half separated, with sparse short setae, apex melanized, truncate, slightly extrorse; digitate process arising from base of uncus lobe laterally, linked with apodeme by narrow membrane; sclerite absent between uncus lobes. Valva elongate, triangular, broad at base, narrowed to blunt apex; costal margin straight, with a large, rectangular basal process and an ovate medial process; ventral margin convex in basal 1/3, forming shallow, setose ventral lobe, almost straight from basal 1/3 to distal 1/ 6, distal 1/6 slightly convex; basal margin concave in semicircle ventrally, with small, triangular ‘secondary apodeme’ close to apodeme; inner surface unmodified. Juxta fused with vinculum angularly, 0.3× length of aedeagus, rounded at its fusion with base of aedeagus, narrowed medially, trapezoidal at its fusion with base of vinculum. Aedeagus stout, 0.75× length valva, double-walled, broad at base, narrowed to distal 1/3, bent dorsad near middle through 30°, distal 1/3 expanded hemispherically. Bulbus ejaculatorius 2.0× length of aedeagus, slightly expanded at basal 1/4, where ductus ejaculatorius is coiled; subdistal section expanded and curved, semicircular; distal section slightly expanded, narrower than subdistal section.

Female unknown.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin prefix duo-, meaning two, and the Latin projectus, meaning projected, referring to the basal and medial processes on the costal margin of the valva.
