Erythmelus (Erythmelus) podaypodnos S. Triapitsyn , sp. n.
( Figs 15, 16 View FIGURES 15, 16 )
Type material. Holotype female on slide [ UCRC]: BOLIVIA. LA PAZ, 50 km N of Caranavi , 15.66°S 67.44°W, 1100 m, 16–17.iv.2004, B. V. Brown. GoogleMaps
Description. FEMALE. Body mostly dark brown except base of gaster yellow to light brown; midlobe of mesoscutum with a lighter (light brown) transverse submedian stripe. Scape light brown to brown, pedicel light brown, flagellum brown. Legs light brown to brown.
Vertex transversely striate, with a few short setae.
Antenna ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 15, 16 ) with short setae. Scape 5.8 x as long as wide; pedicel much longer than F1; all funicular segments longer than wide; F1 the shortest funicular segment, F2 slightly longer than F1 and much shorter than F3, F3–F6 subequal in length (each segment progressively slightly longer than preceding one), F1 and F2 without longitudinal sensilla, F3 with 1, F4–F6 each with 2 longitudinal sensilla; clava 3.4 x as long as wide, with 6 longitudinal sensilla.
Mesosoma. Each lobe of pronotum with several strong setae. Mesoscutum wider than long, its midlobe finely longitudinally striate and with 1 pair of strong setae. Scutellum a little shorter than mesoscutum, posterior scutellum finely longitudinally striate. Dorsellum broadly angulate posteriorly.
Wings. Forewing ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 15, 16 ) 4.3 x as long as wide; blade slightly infumate, more conspicuously so in the middle (as a light brown transverse band), with setae only in the distal half, mostly along margins; longest marginal cilia 1.3 x greatest width of wing. Hind wing 17 x as long as wide, almost as long as forewing; blade infumate distally; longest marginal cilia 4.3 x greatest wing width.
Metasoma. Petiole much wider than long. Gaster longer than mesosoma; ovipositor with a basal loop, about 9/10 length of gaster, a little exserted beyond apical gastral tergum (by about 1/5 of ovipositor length), and 2.0 x length of metatibia.
Measurements (in µm). Body 1107; mesosoma 385; gaster 533; ovipositor 515. Antenna: scape (including radicle) 176; pedicel 51; F1 27; F2 31; F3 57; F4 62; F5 64; F6 66; clava 148. Forewing 694:163; longest marginal cilia 214. Hind wing 676:39; longest marginal cilia 166.
MALE. Unknown.
Etymology. “Poday pod nos” (treated here as a noun in apposition) stands for “bring [it] under [one’s] nose” in Russian.
Diagnosis. Member of the clavatus species group. Erythmelus (E.) podaypodnos is most similar to E. (E.) logarzoi sp. n., both of which have longitudinal sensilla on F3–F6 of the female antenna. It differs from E. (E.) logarzoi in having F1 as wide as and only a little shorter than F2 and the forewing blade infuscate in the middle.
Hosts. Unknown.
