ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1857: 88 (key), 95 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Pedemontio [Piedmont ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype (missing head) ( MZUF: Box 4): Eumerus Mgn / truquii Rnd., Pedem. [= Piedmont] / 141 / Eumerus barbarus det. Vujić 2014 / Holotype ♀ Eumerus truquii Rondani, 1857 det. J. van Steenis, 2016 ”
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Eumerus barbarus (Coquebert, 1804) View in CoL ( Peck 1988: 154, Belcari et al. 1995a: 14, Steenis et al. 2017: 147).
REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 95) described Eumerus truquii from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths: “ Semel mas species ad Equite Truqui missus [once Mr. Truqui sent the male of the species]”. Steenis et al. (2017: 149) considered the single MZUF male as the holotype.
