1. Glyphidops (Oncopsia) carrerai Aczél View in CoL
( Figs. 9 View FIGURE 9 A–D, 16A)
Glyphidops (Oncopsia) carrerai Aczél, 1961: 316 View in CoL . Type locality: Brazil, São Paulo, São Vicente. HT ♂ [MZUSP].
Diagnosis. Frontal vitta yellow with pale brownish “Y” shaped stripe, darker in front of the ocellar tubercle. First flagellomere oblong; length less than twice width. Arista apical. Scutum dorsally with two white pruinescent stripes, separated by wide median brown stripe that widens and fades after transverse suture. Anterior notopleural seta hair-like and slender. Femora yellow. Hind femur with two dorsal distomedial setae. Basicosta with dorsal and ventral yellow and hair-like setae.
Male. Body length 5.2–7.6 mm. Wing length 4.4–5.4 mm and width 1.1–1.5 mm. Brown with partly yellow head and thorax ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 A).
Head. Moderately elongate in lateral view; 1.0– 1.2 mm length and 1.0– 1.2 mm width. Frontal vitta yellow, except for pale brownish “Y” shaped stripe, darker in front of ocellar tubercle ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 B). Fronto-orbital plate black. Postocellar seta slightly curved, length twice transverse diameter of ocellar tubercle; inner vertical seta straight, equal to outer vertical seta; outer vertical seta curved and divergent, 80% length of postocellar seta. Genal seta 80% length of postocellar seta. Postgena discretely narrowing posteriorly; posterior margin relatively wide. Occiput brown; height 2.5 times length ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 C). Antennal base brown; distal margin blackish-brown. Antennae length 60% length of head. Scape yellowish-brown, darkened dorsally; 0.1 mm long. Pedicel same color as scape; 0.1–0.2 mm long; with outstanding dorso-apical seta; inner process of pedicel finger-like and narrow. First flagellomere oblong; length 1.7–1.9 times width. Arista apical and bare.
Thorax. Pleuron brown and partially yellow, with inconspicuous violet-bluish reflections in the darkest parts. Anterior notopleural seta hair-like and very slender; length half that of posterior notopleural seta. Posterior notopleural seta, 60% length of scutellar seta and inserted on very small shiny tubercle. Supra-alar seta slightly curved and subequal to postalar seta. Postalar seta curved and 80% length of scutellar seta. Dorsocentral seta length, 70% length of scutellar seta. Scutellar seta length 70% length of scutellum. Proepisternum bare. Katepisternum with inconspucuous seta and sometimes absent. Katatergite same color as pleuron or slightly paler; length 1.7 times height.
Legs. Mid hind coxa, with one lateral seta. Femora yellow; mid femur anteriorly with two median setae. Hind femur with two dorsal distomedial setae.
Wing ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 D). Basicosta with dorsal and ventral yellow and hair-like setae. Halter whitish-yellow, with knob slightly darker.
Abdomen. Same color as thorax, with bluish reflections. Tergites 5 and 6 without violet-bluish reflections. Syntergite 7+8 and epandrium shiny yellowish-brown or paler.
Female. Fore coxa without anterolateral seta. Oviscape subshiny yellowish-brown with narrow dark brown median stripe dorsally; 1.6 mm long and 0.9 mm wide; length 1.8 times width ( Aczél, 1961).
Comments. The female of this species was not seen by the authors. In the original description, Aczél (1961) used numerous size and coloration patterns and noted that legs have several inconspicuous brown rings and tergite 6 is yellowish-brown, characteristics not seen by the authors of the present work in the holotype or other specimens. Regarding the size of epandrium, it was originally described as twice as long as syntergite 7+8, although in our material examined it appears to be slightly longer.
