Cylindrospermopsis helicoidea Cronberg & Komárek (2003: 83 , 95, fig. 15)
Strains:— CHAB 357 from Lake Wenshan in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province.
Habitat:— In lakes, planktonic.
Description:— Trichomes solitary, free floating, intensely screw-like coiled, with mainly 3–6 coils, without mucilaginous envelopes ( Fig. 1D–G View FIGURE 1 ). Cells cylindrical, not constricted at cross walls, not or slightly attenuated towards the ends, 5.3–6.7–8.9 μm long, 2.0–2.5–3.2 μm wide (L:W ratio 1.9–2.7–3.5), apical cells are rounded at the ends. Heterocytes ellipsoidal to irregularly barrel-shaped, slightly curved, narrowed and rounded at the apex, their long axis are oriented parallel with the axis of the coiled filament, 4.6–6.4–8.2 μm long, 2.6–4.1–5.7 μm wide (L:W ratio 1.2–1.6–2.3). Akinetes not found ( Table S4).
Notes:— C. helicoidea was featured with densely coiled trichomes.
