Megaselia crassineura Rondani, 1856 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 137.
TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (head, part of the thorax and right fore-leg on pin; wings, one leg, remainder of thorax and abdomen glued to a cardboard stage with the species name pinned below specimen) ( MZUF: Box 41): Megaselia Rnd. / crassinerva [sic!] / 2200 / Megaselia brunneipennis (Costa) , det. Gori (1996); 1 ♀, syntype (head and part of the thorax on pin; wings, legs and part of abdomen glued to a cardboard stage with the species name pinned below specimen) ( MZUF: Box 41): Megaselia Rnd. / crassinerva [sic!] / 2200 / Megaselia brunneipennis (Costa) , det. Gori (1996); 1 ♀, syntype (wing glued to a cardboard stage with the species name pinned below specimen) ( MZUF: Box 41): Megaselia Rnd. / costalis DeR / 2200 / Megaselia costalis (v. Roser), ♀, det. Gori (1996).
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Megaselia costalis (Roser, 1840) View in CoL ( Disney 1991: 162, Gori 1999: 141).
REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 137) key for the genus Megaselia Rondani, 1856 lists Megaselia crassineura as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. We found three syntypes in this study.
