Mimus polyglottos (Linnaeus, 1758) DIPTERA
Philornis porteri Dodge, 1955 View in CoL
UNITED STATES: Florida: within 50 km of Gainesville, 2007, parasite intensity per nestling 0 to 88, mean 14.05 ± 7.61 parasites per nestling, 0 to 88 parasites in a nest, mean 22.73 ± 7.64 parasites in 42% parasitized nests from a total of 26 collected nests; 2008, parasite intensity per nestling 0 to 21.25, mean 6.59 ± 1.15 parasites per nestling, 0 to 85 parasites in a nest, mean 22.85 ± 3.99 parasites in 38% parasitized nests from a total of 73 collected nests; adult flies identified by G.J. Steck [FDACS]; voucher specimens [FDACS] ( Le Gros et al. 2011).
Note: Parasite intensity in each nest is the the number of pupae plus the number of pupal cases in the nest; average parasite intensity per nestling is the nest intensity divided by the number of nestlings at hatching day ( Le Gros et al. 2011).
