TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Agro Panormitano [Palermo’s territory ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Palumbia bellieri (Bigot, 1860) ( Peck 1988: 211, Belcari et al. 1995a: 18).
REMARKS: Rondani (1865a: 130) described both sexes of Palumbia sicula without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths: “ uterque sexus lectus a d. o Mina [sic!]- Palumbo [both sexes collected by Mr. Minà-Palumbo]”. We could not locate any type specimens of this nominal species in our study.
