Typification note: — Roth (1821) described the name Micranthus serpyllifolius based on Benjamin Heyne’s collection from Indian Orientalis. Recently, Turner (2021) designated a specimen at L (L.0614160) as the lectotype for the name M. serpyllifolius . The lectotype consists of a single ambiguous specimen mounted at the centre, lacking underwater and aerial leaves and with non-diagnostic flowers, making it difficult to study the important diagnostic characters of the specimen. To overcome the ambiguity of the lectotype, here we designate specimen APR025 (CAL) as an epitype according to Art. 9.9 of ICN ( Turland et al. 2018). R. serpyllifolia is one of the widely accepted species of Rotala that grow in running water ( Cook 1979, Joseph & Sivarajan 1989).
