Sapromyza dilecta Rondani, 1868 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868c: 236 (key), 244 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, 1 ♀, syntypes (couple pinned together) ( MZUF: Box 29): Sapromyza Fall. / dilecta Rndn. / 1559 .
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Homoneura notata ( Fallén, 1820) View in CoL ( Papp 1984a: 196, Nartshuk et al. 1995: 5); valid species ( Merz 2003: 356).
REMARKS: Rondani (1868c: 244) described both sexes of Sapromyza dilecta without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Uterque sexus semel a me inventus fuit [I found both sexes once]”. Papp (1981: 159) incorrectly designated a lectotype and paralectotype from specimens belonging to Homoneura notata ( Fallén, 1820) , not to the type series of Homoneura dilecta , presumably confused by the placement of the species label which, in the MZUF, are below rather than above the specimens in the box. He mistakenly said Homoneura dilecta was numbered as “1560” rather than “1559” and considered Homoneura dilecta as a junior synonym of Homoneura notata . Merz (2003: 356) observed that Sapromyza notata ( Fallén, 1820) is a different species from Sapromyza notata sensu auctorum and considered Papp’s lectotype of Sapromyza dilecta as the valid name for Sapromyza notata sensu auctorum, not Sapromyza notata Fallén, 1820 . However, this taxonomic action is not valid because the MZUF specimens studied by Merz belong to Sapromyza notata and not to Sapromyza dilecta . We found two syntypes in this study.
