Semachrysa contorta Brooks, 1983: 13 View in CoL . Type locality: India (Khasi Hills). Holotype in NHML.
Diagnosis. This species is characterized by the mesonotum with brown markings on prescutum and scutum, the pronotum and metanotum without markings, the forewing with brown shadings, especially on the basal crossvein of outer gradate series and the 4th posterior margin crossvein, the median arch of male gonarcus with small acute projections, the wide entoprocessus with tiny processus on upper right angle, the arcessus widest at base and pointed at tip, and the extremely long female vela and ventral impression.
Description. Male. Body length 6.9–7.2 mm, forewing length 8.8–9.4 mm, hindwing length 7.9–8.5 mm.
Head with black spots on lateral sides of vertex, gena and between frons and clypeus. Compound eyes prominent and black. Frons with three pairs of black spots on lateral side and a dark spot at middle. Antennae yellow, scape and pedicel with brown stripe on outer side, wider than flagellum. Clypeal margin with brown stripes. Maxillary and labial palpi with brown stripe on outer side.
Pronotum anterior margin slightly shorter than posterior margin, without markings; mesonotum with brown markings on prescutum and scutum, metanotum without markings.
Legs with dense setae, without spots. Pretarsal claws brown, with basal dilation.
Forewing with brown shadings on basal crossvein of outer gradate series and 4th posterior margin crossveins, with pale brown shadings on psm-psc crossveins, CuP and forking marginal veins. Pterostigma indistinct. Costal area with 16–18 crossveins; 8–10 radial crossveins present. m1 smaller than m2; im ovoid; 7 psm-psc crossveins present. c1 smaller than c2, dcc opened. A1 forked, A2 and A3 simple. Inner gradate series with 5–7 crossveins, outer gradate series with 6–7 crossveins.
Hindwing without shadings. Costal area with 12–17 crossveins; 7–8 radial crossveins and 6 psm-psc crossveins present. Inner gradate series with 4–5 crossveins, outer gradate series with 4–6 crossveins.
Abdomen with dense setae. Tergum VII and sternum VII subquadrate in lateral view; tergum VIII slightly shorter than tergum VII; sternum VIII fused with sternum IX; tergum IX fused with ectoproct. Callus cerci ovoid. Gonarcus arcuate, median arch with tiny acute projections, lateral arms narrow at base and wide at tip; entoprocessus wide, with tiny processus on upper right angle; arcessus widest at base and pointed at tip.
Female. Body length 6.8–8.0 mm, forewing length 9.4–10.4 mm, hindwing length 8.1–8.3 mm.
Sternum VII longer than tergum VII; tergum VII subquadrate in lateral view; tergum VIII shorter than tergum VII; tergum IX fused with ectoproct. Callus cerci ovoid. Subgenitale bilobed apically; spermatheca thick, vela extremely long, ventral impression very deep, duct long and coiled.
