Holotype male. Label data (6): " Holotype, P. Hendrickxi "; "Musée du Congo, Mulunga, 15.vi.[19]38, Hendrickx, 402"; " Polychrosis , hendrickxi, Ghesquière 1940 "; " Polychrosis, Hendrickxi, Ghesq. "; "Baie de, caffeier, séchée"; " R. Dét., A, 4516". [Not dissected, abdomen flat]; specimen ID: RMCA ENT 000005015 View Materials ( Fig. 37).
Male genitalia ( Fig. 81). Uncus short with transverse lateral processes; socius rather well sclerotized, tapered terminad, with sharp basal process; basal half of valva broad; sacculus slightly convex in distal half and small angle; neck of valva moderate; ventral incision shallow, deeper proximally than posteriorly; venral lobe of cucullus broad, marked with large spine; group of spines more dorsoposterior to the latter; marginal spines along distal half of caudal edge of cucullus; aedeagus moderate, tapered terminad; cornuti a dense bunch of long spines.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 107). Both pairs of apophyses of moderate length, slender; posterior edge of sternite excavated to 1/3 of length, with oblique folds from corners of excavation; ostium circular, lamella postvaginalis forming two lateral sclerotized lobes; ductus bursae with sclerites in posterior part, ductus seminalis inserted in middle; corpus bursae with numerous tiny folds and weak sclerite near entrance of ductus bursae, two strongly curved nail-shaped signa.
Remarks. Described from the male holotype only. The description of the male genitalia is based on a specimen not belonging to the types series with the following labels: "Coll. Mus. Congo, Nioka, 13.xi.1956, De Wit (Decelle)"; "s/ Coffea arabica "; "Nioka, 13.xi.'56. Coffea arabica "; "Genital prep. 98059 L. Aarvik, Polychrosis hendrickxi, J. Ghesquière (male), teste L. Aarvik, 1998"; " MRAC / KMMA 00330"; specimen ID: RMCA ENT 000005016. The description of the female genitalia is based on a specimen with the following labels: "Coll. Mus. Congo, Nioka, 13.xi.1956, De Wit (Decelle)"; "s/ Coffea arabica "; "Nioka, 13.xi.'56. Coffea arabica "; " MRAC / KMMA 00502"; specimen ID: RMCA ENT 000005144.
As in Sycacantha orphnogenes ( Meyrick, 1939) (Eucosma) , comb. n., the male possesses a long hairpencil from lateral folds in the abdominal base, typical of many congeners ( Horak 2006).
Polychrosis hendrickxi View in CoL is a junior subjective synonym of Sycacantha nereidopa ( Meyrick, 1927) View in CoL comb. n. Meyrick (1927) described Eucosma nereidopa View in CoL from a female bred from berries of coffee in Kenya. In 1937 he described the same species under the name Eucosma phylloscia View in CoL from Uganda, also based on material bred from coffee. Clarke (1958) synonymized the two Meyrick names and figured the wings and genitalia of both holotypes.
