Trioza monri Burckhardt , nom. and stat. nov.
Distribution. India: Tamil Nadu ( Kandasamy 1986, as Trioza laqueus minor ).
Host plant. Cinnamomum sp. ( Lauraceae ).
Comments. Trioza fletcheri minor Crawford, 1912 is a senior primary homonym of Trioza minor Tuthill, 1945 from Mexico and Panama and Trioza laqueus minor Kandasamy, 1986 from India. According to article 57.2 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature ( ICZN 1999) a junior primary homonym is invalid. We propose following replacement names: Trioza nimro Burckhardt , nom. nov. for Trioza minor Tuthill, 1945 and Trioza monri Burckhardt , nom. and stat. nov. for Trioza laqueus minor Kandasamy, 1986 nec Trioza fletcheri minor Crawford, 1912 . Trioza laqueus minor Kandasamy, 1986 (= T. monri Burckhardt ) differs from T. laqueus morphologically and in the host range, suggesting that they are two distinct species. For this reason, we raise the former to species status.
