Antillipeltis minuta sp. n.

Diagnosis. This is the smallest species in the genus, less than 3 mm long. The next smallest of the species is A. nitida , which has shorter and broader elytra, distinctly curved pronotal sides and darker, shinier, almost metallic pronotal surface.

Description. Length 2.8 mm; body elongate (BL/EW = 2.14). Head and pronotum reddish-brown, elytra yellow, undersurfaces mostly yellow, but ventral portion of prothorax somewhat darker; antennal funicle, palps and dorsal portion of mandibular bases yellow, antennal club dark brown. Dorsal vestiture of very short fine setae, most of which barely extend beyond edges of punctures; ventral surfaces and legs primarily clothed with longer, decumbent setae, but long, erect setae are present beneath head and prothorax. Head punctation moderately fine and dense. Pronotum 0.66 times as long as wide, more or less quadrate with sides very slightly curved and not explanate, and edges of lateral carinae finely crenulate. Pronotal punctation moderately fine and sparse, but irregular; interspaces very finely granulate and shiny. Elytra 1.60 times as long as wide and 2.95 times as long as pronotum; sides subparallel and explanate; disc with steeply sloping sides with constriction at anterior fourth; punctation coarse and dense, punctures with gradually sloping sides; interspaces more or less smooth and shiny; sutural carinae distinct from about middle to elytral apices.

Type specimen. Holotype, male: Dominican Republic: Azua, St. Domingo, 17.iii.1913, P. G. Russell ( NMNH).
