5. Bauhinia longifolia (Bongard 1836: 128) Steudel (1840:191) . ( Fig. 3E )

Distribution: It occurs in Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru ( Vaz & Tozzi 2003) and in all regions of Brazil. However, in the South region it occurs only in the state of Paraná ( Flora do Brasil 2020). In ParNa Iguaçu it occurs in Lindoeste in the Céu Azul area.

Reproductive period: It flowers from November to February and fruits from March to August ( Vaz & Tozzi 2003). In ParNa Iguaçu it was collected in flower in February.

Diagnostic characteristics: The species is recognized by its arboreal, unarmed habit with bilobed leaves and legume fruit.

Conservation: Native-NE.
