Etymology. The specific name complanus is a Latin adjective referring to the dorsal view, which appears slightly flattened.

Diffrential diagnosis. Closely related to C. milzae Brailovsky (1995) by having the antennomere IV yellow with basal and apical third black to pale brown; labial segment I yellow to shiny orange, and II black to dull brownish orange with basal joint dark yellow; connexival abdominal segments III–VII black to dark brownish orange with posterior margin yellow; and femora ventrally armed. In C. milzae , the hemelytral membrane is entirely white and reaches the posterior margin of abdominal tergite IV; the anterolateral margins of pronotum, the apex of the scutellum, and the costal margin of corium are shiny to pale orange with yellow reflections; anterior angles of pronotum obtuse, rounded; and hind femora with basal half yellow and apical half reddish brown. In C. complanus sp. nov., the hemelytral membrane is white with an inner angle black and reaching the anterior margin of abdominal tergite IV; the anterior angles are produced anteriorly, as short conical teeth; the hind femora black with narrow yellow longitudinal stripe, running along anterior third of dorsal surface; and pronotum and scutellum entirely black to dark brown.
