Geophis carinosus Stuart 1941: 3 .

Holotype. University of Michigan Museum of Zoology ( UMMZ) 89082, adult male collected 2 August 1940 by L.C. Stuart.

Type­locality. Finca San Francisco, 27 km northeast of Nebaj, El Quiché, Guatemala, ca. 1175 m elevation.

Distribution. Reported from the Sierra de los Tuxtlas, Veracruz, Mexico, and the Sierra de los Cuchamatanes in El Quiché and Huehuetenango, Guatemala, and adjacent Chiapas, Mexico.

Species group. dubius ( Downs 1967) .
