Paratypes 2 ♀ [antennomeres VIII–XI of left antenna of one paratype are missing; other paratype is slightly immature]: data as the holotype ( SMNS). All paratypes with my additional label : ‘ Paratype | Lesteva (s.str.) schawalleri sp.n. | A.V.Shavrin des. 2014’ <rectangular label, red, printed>.

Description. Measurements (n=3): WH: 0.55–0.67; LH: 0.6–0.7; LA: 2.18; LE: 0.26–0.3; LT: 0.1; LP: 0.75–0.85; WPmax: 0.85–0.9; WPmin: 0.7–0.75; LES: 1.45–1.75; WE: 1.5–1.55; WA(IV): 1.4–1.45; LAE: 0.7. TL: 4.1–4.7.

Head, pronotum and antennae black, elytra moderately lighter, dark brown with indistinct yellow-brown macula in anterior third of each elytron ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 12–20 ); abdomen and legs brown; ocelli, mouthparts and basis of antennomeres II−III red brown. Pubescence of forebody decumbent, moderately long, yellow; pubescence of abdomen tender, decumbent. Head with moderately convex frons and vertex, 1.1 times as wide as long, with large strongly prominent eyes; eyes longer than temples approximately three times; ocelli indistinct, small; distance between ocelli slightly shorter than the distance between ocellus and posterior margin of eye. Punctation deep, irregular, coarse, denser near eyes and antennal attachment; interspaces between punctures without microsculpture, glossy. Antennae long ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 4–11 ), reaching anterior third of elytra; measurements of antennomeres (holotype): I: 0.25 × 0.11; II: 0.15 × 0.075; III: 0.2 × 0.075; IV: 0.17 × 0.087; V−VIII: 0.2 × 0.087; IX: 0.17× 0.087; X: 0.17 × 0.095; XI: 0.27 × 0.1. Pronotum small, moderately convex, narrow, long and transverse, 1.2 times longer than head, widest in anterior third; with indistict discal impression in medio-basal part. Punctation deep, coarse and regular; interspaces between punctures as diameter of half or one puncture, without microsculpture, glossy. Scutellum with fine indistinct several punctures; interspaces between punctures without microsculpture. Elytra long, twice longer than pronotum, moderately convex, hind margins broadly rounded. Punctation denser and coarser than that on pronotum, regular, punctures slightly smaller; interspaces between puctures as wide as diameter of two-three punctures, without microsculpture, glossy. Wings fully developed. Tarsomere I of metatarsus approximately as long as length of tarsomeres II−III, as long as tarsomere V. Abdomen convex, slightly narrower than elytra; abdominal tergites with very fine indistinct punctation and with distinct isodiametric microsculpture; abdominal tergite V with paired tomentose spots.

Male. Protarsi with dilated tarsomeres I−IV. Sternite VIII with deeply emarginate posterior margin. Aedeagus ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 45–47 ) narrow, in anterior third strongly narrowing, with pointed apex; paramerae relatively wide, approximately on the same level of apex of aedeagus; endophallus with long parallel structures in medial part; endophallus with paired parallel sclerotized structures in apical part. Female. Protarsi with tarsomeres not dilated. Sternite VIII without emarginate posterior margin.

Comparative notes. Based on the presence of maculae on elytra and character of punctation, the new species is similar to L. binotata and L. maculipennis . From L. binotata it differs by the darker coloration, by the more convex head and by the narrower pronotum. From L. maculipennis it differs by the darker coloration, by the longer antennomeres and tarsomere I of metatarsus and by the narrower pronotum. Additionally, L. schawalleri is distinct by the shape of the aedeagus.

Etymology. The species is dedicated to coleopterologist Wolfgang Schawaller, curator of the Coleptera collection in the Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde (Stuttgart).
