When we read the statement by BOUČEK (1974: 150), that Leucospis varia KLUG and L. grandis KLUG were figured as early as 1814 in AHRENS, we could not believe, that the paper of KLUG (Die europäischen Arten der Insekten-Gattung: Leucospis ) had been published in the same year. After a long search we found in Germar’s Magazin der Entomologie 1 (1) (p. 60) the note, that volume 6 (1) of the journal "Magazin der Gesellschaft Naturforschender Freunde zu Berlin für die Neuesten Entdeckungen in der Gesammten Naturkunde" had been published in 1812. Consequently the publication date for the following Leucospis species described by KLUG is 1812: aculeata, bifasciata, gibba, grandis and varia.
