Type host: Coturnix coturnix Linnaeus ( Galliformes : Phasianidae ). Type locality: Europe.

FEMALE (holotype and 7 paratypes). Total body length 650–750. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex without protuberances. Lateral margins of hypostomal apex slightly sclerotized. Each medial branch of peritremes with 2–3 chambers, each lateral branch with 6–8 chambers. Stylophore apunctate, 200–215 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield slightly concave on anterior and posterior margins, apunctate, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si, se and c1. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:2.4:3.5. Setae c1 situated anterior to level of setae se. Setae c1 slightly (1.1–1.2 times) longer than se. Propodonotal setae lightly ornamented. Hysteronotal shields fused to pygidial shield, bearing bases of setae d1 and terminal setae. Hysteronotal setae d1, d2 and e2 subequal in length. Setae f1 and h1 short and subequal in length. Setae h2 1.4 times longer than f2. Aggenital setae ag2 1.5 times longer than ag1. Genital setae g1 and g2 subequal in length. Pseudanal setae ps1 and ps2 subequal in length. Coxal fields weakly sclerotized, punctate. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 10–13 tines. Setae l’RIII and l’RIV extend beyond respective genua. Setae tc” of legs III and IV 1.4–1.6 times longer than tc’III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 45–60, ve 120–140, si 180–195, se 200–215, c1 190–215, c2 215–225, d1 125–140, d2 135–150, e2 130–160, f1 25–35, f2 195–230, h1 30–35, h2 300–327, ag1 85–115, ag2 130–160, ps1 and ps2 18, g1 and g2 35–45, l’RIII and l’RIV 80– 105.

MALE (4 specimens from type host species from Poland). Total body length 455–470. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex without protuberances. Each transverse branch of peritremes with 2–3 chambers, each vertical branch with 6–7 chambers. Stylophore apunctate, 195–200 long. Movable cheliceral digit 170 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield slightly concave on posterior margins, apunctate, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si, se and c1. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:2–2.3:2.6. Setae c1 situated slightly posterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shield fused to pygidial shield, bearing bases of setae d1, e2 and terminal setae. Setae d2 varriable in length. Setae h2 4–5 times longer than f2. Setae g1 situated anterior to level of setae g2, both subequal in length. Aggenital setae ag1 1.3–2 times longer than ag2. Coxal fields weakly I and II sparsely punctate. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 8 tines. Setae tc” of legs III and IV 1.3–1.6 times longer than tc’III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 45–70, ve 125– 150, si 185, se 190, c1 160, c2 170, d1 20–30, d2 varrible 25–80, e2 20 –30, f2 25–30, h2 125–170, ag1 80–105, ag2 55–70, l’RIII 45–50, l’RIV 35–40, tc’III–IV 30–35, tc”III–IV 50–60.

Type material examined. Coturnix coturnix Linnaeus ( Galliformes : Phasianidae ): female holotype and 27 female paratypes (Sy–T–3; AVB 03–0101–30.1); this bird was imported from EUROPE and died in the Antwerp ZOO ( Belgium) during quarantine in 1966; coll. A.V. Bochkov in 2001.

Type material deposition. Holotype deposited in the IRSNB, paratypes in IRSNB, ZISP, and AMU.

Non-type material examined. Type host species: 9 females, 4 males ( AMU –SYR.333) (ter.) ; POLAND, Gornoslaskie , near Glogow, 21 April 2009, coll. M. Skoracki. Material deposited in the AMU .

Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of Coturnix coturnix .

Distribution. Europe.
