TYPE:— COLOMBIA. Antioquia: without collection data, flowered in cultivation by R. Londoño near Medellín, 20 Mar 1989, Luer 14312 (holotype, MO!).

Distribution: — Colombia.

Notes:— Myoxanthus epibator is endemic to Colombia and most similar to the recently described M. bolivianus from Chochabamba, Bolivia. The former is distinguished by the shorter clavate sepals, 4.5 mm long vs. sepals forming slender tails, 5.5–6.0 mm long and dark purple lip that lacks a tall basal callus vs. yellowish suffused with purple with a prominent erect callus at the base.
