Diagnostic description. Mesosoma entirely to mostly dark (dark brown or black), lighter areas very small and localized; metasoma dorsally entirely dark (brown or black); gena with relatively large and clear pale spot; tegula pale; first two pairs of legs entirely pale (yellow, orange or light yellow-brown), rarely with coxae darker; metacoxa pale or mostly light brown, with small yellow area apically; metafemur mostly pale (yellow, orange or light yellowbrown); metatibia mostly yellow; T 2 varying from mostly smooth to mostly sculptured. See Table 1 View TABLE 1 for additional morphological measurements. Notogaster walkeri can be distinguished from all other Notogaster species based on the combination of mesosoma and metasoma being mostly to entirely dark brown to black while legs are entirely to mostly yellow, and the gena having a relatively large pale spot at base. Only N. poultonae and N. withersae share those features, but N. walkeri can be separate from both based on its longer flagellomeres distally, smaller OOL, thinner T 1 and more trapezoidal T 2 (see key for more details).
Molecular data. The species has one DNA barcode compliant sequence and two partial (407 bp) sequences in BOLD, corresponding to BIN BOLD:ACI3690, which is 7.09% different to the closest BIN in BOLD.
Distribution. BP, BR, MC, NN, SL, TK, WD ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1−9 ).
Etymology. Named after Graham Walker for his contribution to entomology in New Zealand.
